Block Paving Styles

Block paving is the most versatile surfacing style you can choose for your driveway, patio or garden in Cheshire. It is available in a range of colours and textures, can be laid in a variety of patterns and can be tailored to suit any type of modern, contemporary or traditional home.

The most common type of block paving dimensions are 100mm x 200mm with a thickness between 50mm to 100mm. The most common block paving for a driveway is the 50mm range whilst a commercial road for heavy goods vehicles would use closer to the 100mm range.

This type of block paving is generally laid in a herringbone pattern which helps to lock it together. There is a spacer between the block paving which leaves a small gap for jointing.

The jointing is done using kiln dried sand, silver sand or Dansand depending on your preferences. Once it has been compacted this sand will help to lock the paving into place and stop it from shifting around.
